Ida M Fisher Junior High School was named after Carl Fisher's Mother, Ida Graham Fisher... The 'M' middle initial was an engraving error on the school sign.  Fisher Junior High was built in 1926 as a High School, and the adjacent junior high school was built in 1936. In 1960 a new "Beach High" was built, and the high school building on Drexel Avenue was absorbed into the junior high school operation.

Nautilus Junior High School (now Nautilus Middle School) began as a Miami Beach area elementary school with 400 students from Kindergarten through 8th grade.  In 1955 it became a Junior High School.  The building itself has been a constant study in growth and additions. The cafeteria was originally a combination auditorium and cafeteria. The Boys Locker Room arrived on the scene in 1952, the Band Room in 1955, and the Auditorium in 1958.  Science was recognized with its own wing in 1960, and the Wood Shop, Girls Locker Room and Music Lab in 1961 and finally the original Library was added in 1962.

We have only listed area public Jr. High Schools.  If you came to Beach High from another school, please let us know so we can add your school’s name to our site.
